Forming the Comparative and the Superlative of Adverbs
The comparative ‘more’ and the superlative ‘most’ are used with adverbs ending in -ly.
Examples:
- We should take this more seriously.
- The most hastily written document often has mistakes.
The comparative suffix -er and the superlative suffix -est are used with adverbs not ending in -ly.
