What Are Pronouns?
The function of pronouns
Pronouns are words that replace nouns in a sentence, making it easier to communicate without repeating the same noun multiple times. Examples of pronouns include he, she, it, they, me, him, her, us, and them. Pronouns refer to a specific person, place, thing, or idea, and help to clarify the meaning of a sentence. For instance, in the sentence “John was playing with a ball. He threw it in the air,” “he” is a pronoun that replaces the noun “John” and “it” is a pronoun that replaces the noun “ball”.
Pronouns can be definite pronouns or indefinite pronouns.
